Bipolar Ionization and the STERIONIZER™
Bipolar Ionization is a process in which the decomposition of gas molecules into atoms is effected by the aid of high energy sources. The natural source for this high energy is UV solar radiation and soil radioactivity. This decomposition process assures that there will always be bipolar Air Ions (AI) within the breathable atmosphere in our natural environment and, unfortunately, also that in an enclosed, indoor environment, ions may not exist at all.
The decomposition of a molecule into atoms is accompanied by the generation of free electrons. A molecule with a free electron attached to it is called a negative ion, while a molecule lacking an electron is called a positive ion. The air ionization process is always accompanied by generation of ozone (O3) owing to the integration of oxygen (O2) molecules with oxygen (O) atoms — O2 + O = O3. The STERIONIZER™ ionization module restores and rebalances these ion levels within indoor, closed environments, where UV solar radiation and soil radioactivity are unavailable.
STERIONIZER™ Bipolar Technology — Long Life, Unlimited Applications
The STERIONIZER™ bipolar ionization module is a high technology device servicing the bi-polar ionization field that owes its unique features to its output flow stabilization capability (enables long life without service) and a diagnostic capability that supplies data to the computer or indicator about any problems the unit may have. The STERIONIZER™ is characterized with a very low level of ozone (negligible) which makes it virtually unlimited in its application fields.
Low Ozone Levels
The importance of keeping a low level of ozone can be illustrated through the example of the use of an ionizer inside a room versus inside a car. Devices that are designed for room level ozone generation are not suited for a car. This phenomenon is best illustrated by comparing the interior size of a room to that of a car. In a case where the ozone quantity inside a room is acceptable, the interior of a car, which is 5 to 10 times smaller in size than a room, would suffer from an ozone concentration 5 to 10 times higher — clearly exceeding ozone safety standards.
Ion Generation and Level Stabilization
Human sense organs are unable to perceive positive and negative air ions in the air that we breathe, because ions are not apparent by using either sight or smell. Therefore, the problem of indicating and controlling the generation process and the stabilization of the output levels of ions becomes highly important — especially due to the fact that ion generation processes vary with temperature, humidity, electrode contamination, and when dust is present in the air. This is only one of the extremely specialized areas in which the unique STERIONIZER™ technology excels.
